Slitherine Software
Created on the 4th of July 2000, Slitherine Software UK Ltd. is a privately funded and independent UK developer and publisher. The team are all industry professionals with experience dating back to the early 1990's. Prior to forming Slitherine, the team worked on a range of triple A titles such as Red Alert, Dune, Dune Emperor, Deus Ex, Urban Chaos and Harry Potter. Since launching its Slitherine Strategies brand the company has released numerous historical strategy games including Legion, Legion Gold, Chariots of War, Spartan, Gates of Troy, Legion Arena and Cult of Mithras. Slitherine in collaboration with The History Channel is now to add a further great title to its portfolio, The History Channel®Great Battles of Rome. Additionally there are a further three games in development, scheduled for release in the coming months. Including our recently announced The History Channel®Great Battles of Rome.
Slitherine Software successfully launched the Slitherine Strategies brand in 2002. Through this brand we are dedicated to bringing highly playable and approachable strategy games to the mass market. Slitherine Software is uniquely placed to deliver due to our experience within the industry and also the wider gaming community. Two of our founding members are also world champions at tabletop wargaming, giving us an incomparable insight into the workings of strategy games. This combined with our experience of working on high profile entertainment software mean we are well placed to meet our promises. Since it’s creation Slitherine has developed an impressive set of technologies, which make possible the huge quality leaps that can be seen in our upcoming titles.
Slitherine also recently started a developer incubation program, helping get new developers started by match making different skills & services such as coding, art, scripting, sound and design, and organising them into teams. Slitherine handles the project & business management and PR, allowing these talented and enthusiastic young developers to get started in a safe environment without the risks and hassles of managing publisher and press relations. The program has been growing rapidly since it started early this year and Slitherine now have three full teams working on 3 exciting new games, as well its own internal projects.
Slitherine’s games have been regularly ported to the Mac, but this year Slitherine will release its first PS2 and PSP title, in a major collaboration with The History Channel ®. Slitherine are also investigating NDS and X360 for the same license.
Since its formation, Slitherine has brought 7 games to the market including Legion, Spartan, Gates of Troy and Legion Arena. Sales of Legion have reach in excess of 150,000 worldwide and the recently released Legion Arena has sold almost 100,000 copies excluding the US.
